I’ve been obsessed with the busted knee jeans celebrities have been wearing lately, as seen here. When it comes to denim, nothing beats that perfectly broken in, rugged and ripped pair of jeans that look like they’ve been lived in, better yet, fell in and busted your knees. Sometimes it’s hard to get them just right – especially if you’re trying to do it yourself. Here are a few steps I took to re-create the busted knee effect on an old pair of jeans.
1. I find it best to place a piece of card board between the jeans, so you don’t cut through to the back of your pant leg.
2. Find the exact position of your knee and start making slits to how long and wide you would want your rips.
3. Once all your slits and cuts are done. Wash and dry twice, so the cotton fibers can have a natural fray.
