Cinnamon Sugar Baked Donuts

Cinnamon Sugar Baked Donuts, Green, St. Patricks Day, Theme, Dessert, Healthy Choice, Sweets, The way to my Hart

I can’t resist eating something green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, so I decided to make these Cinnamon Sugar Baked Donuts (even if it’s only the sugar topping dyed green). Whether you enjoy them with a morning cup of coffee, or as snack to end the day with a cold beer, these baked donuts satisfy that sweet craving every time. Cheers, to the one day you could get away with day drinking and stumbling home before dinner time.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 extra-large egg, lightly beaten
1 1/4 cups whole milk ( or Almond milk)*
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
green food coloring- optional*

1. Pre-heat oven to 350Β°. Spray donut baking pan with cooking spray.

2. Mix together in a large bowl all your dry ingredients; flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Then,Β  mix together in a smaller bowl all the wet ingredients; Egg, milk butter, melted butter and vanilla extract.

3. Combine both dry and wet ingredients together, spoon into a donut baking pan.

4. Bake for 17 minutes and cool for 5 minutes before adding your sugar topping.

Sugar Topping:
Melt 1 stick of butter and set a side. Add 1 or 2 drops of green food coloring onto a spoon and slowly stir the dye into the sugar. Brush the top of each donut with butter then dip the top of the donut into the sugar.
